Featured brewery: Burial Beer Co.
Burial, for some, is a necessary step to reach the afterlife. Burial Beer Co. sees the term as a celebration: of life, of the cyclical nature of harvest and of the brewing process. The brewery invites its loyal beer drinkers to partake in experimental beer drinking, with offerings ranging from its Skillet Donut Stout to its Bolo Coconut Brown. Burial Beers opened its doors to in June 2013. Since then, the brewers have been pouring special releases almost every weekend and continued to experiment while tweaking and perfecting recipes.
Beers to try:
- The Keeper’s Veil Honey Saison – A beer constructed from our love for Asheville’s incredible wildflower population. Brewed with exclusively Riverbend Malt 6 row and wheat, alongside NC raised honey, this beer gets the majority of its flavor from the addition of seven herbs and flowers, ranging from heather, elderflower, passionflower, hibiscus, rose and chamomile. Enjoy a cornucopia of tea, orchard fruit, and floral aromas.
- Shadowclock Pilsner - Made with German barley and American corn, our own brewer’s prize is then dry-hopped with Saphir and Tettnanger hops. Never filtered, the result is a more robust Bohemian lager with aromas of wildflower, honey and lemon. Keep your palate clean, revel in your beverage.
- Skillet Donut Stout - The perfect beer for your morning– a cup of coffee and a chocolate-glazed donut. Just like a well-seasoned skillet, this beer has all the right flavors – thanks to 10 barley malts, oats and a healthy dose of Nugget hops and milk sugar. The beer is aged on a 50/50 blend of two of our favorite cold-pressed coffees from Counter Culture Coffee.
